Living in Edgemont, Edmonton
Newer Homes Above the Wedgewood Ravine
Edgemont is a newer west Edmonton community, bordered by Winterburn Road (215 Street) to the west, Anthony Henday Drive to the east, Lessard Road and 45 Avenue to the north, and the Wedgewood Ravine to the south.
It began building in the early 2010s and has grown quickly. It offers newer homes at a range of price points, with the ravine and established west-end shopping close by.
Homes and Prices in Edgemont

Schools, Parks, Shopping and Commute
Schools. A site in the community is set aside for a future Edmonton Public Schools K–9 school. Check the Edmonton Public Schools and Edmonton Catholic Schools locators for the designated schools for the address you're considering.
Parks and trails. The Edgemont community park has a ball diamond, soccer fields, pathways and a playground. The Wedgewood Ravine runs along the south edge.
Shopping. Everyday shopping is a short drive away in the Lessard and Callingwood area and along Whitemud Drive, with West Edmonton Mall within easy reach.
Commute. Anthony Henday Drive is on the east edge, and Whitemud Drive is close by. Drive times downtown vary a lot with traffic, so test your commute at rush hour. Check ETS trip planning for current transit routes.
Is Edgemont a Good Fit for You?
Edgemont tends to work well if you want:
- A newer home with a choice of price points
- Quick Henday and Whitemud access
- Ravine trails and new parks nearby
- Established west-end shopping a short drive away
It may not be the right fit if you want a school already open inside the community or mature trees and large older lots.
What I'd Watch Out For
- The school isn't built yet. A school site is set aside, but plan around the schools that exist today.
- Some construction continues. Remaining phases can bring construction traffic. Check what's planned near the home you're considering.
- Busy edges. Homes near Winterburn Road, Lessard Road or the Henday can hear more traffic. Visit at rush hour.
- Townhome condo details. For townhomes, review the condo documents, reserve fund and fees before you commit.
- Lot position drives value. Ravine, pond and park-backing lots carry a premium. Make sure the premium fits the home you actually need.
