Living in Oleskiw, Edmonton
River Valley Living Beside the Golf Course
Oleskiw is an established west Edmonton community wrapped by the North Saskatchewan River valley to the east and south, with Wolf Willow Ravine to the north and northeast and 170 Street to the west. Wanyandi Road is the main street through the community.
The Edmonton Golf and Country Club is in the neighbourhood. Oleskiw is named after Joseph Oleskiw, a Ukrainian scholar who promoted immigration to Canada.

Is Oleskiw a Good Fit for You?
Oleskiw tends to work well if you want:
- River valley, ravine or golf course surroundings
- A detached home in a settled area
- Whitemud Drive close by
- A fully built-out, established community
It may not be the right fit if you want a brand-new home or a low-maintenance condo.
What I'd Watch Out For
- Age of major systems. Many homes are several decades old. Ask about the age of the roof, furnace, hot water tank and windows.
- Poly-B plumbing. Polybutylene water lines were used in many Alberta homes built from the late 1970s to the mid-1990s. Ask the seller and have your inspector check.
- Valley and ravine lots. Look closely at grading, drainage, retaining walls and slope, and ask about any restrictions near the top of bank.
- Golf course lots. Homes beside the course can see stray balls and course maintenance activity. Walk the yard before you buy.
